Breath is life. Through gentle belly breathing, you can calm the nervous system, restore balance, and open the doorway to healing, clarity, and spiritual awareness.
With each deep inhale, your lungs open more fully, inviting in calm and light. With each exhale, tension softens and begins to melt away. The breath itself becomes a teacher—reminding you that peace is always just one inhale and exhale away.

Encourages healing and reduces pain sensitivity
Supports better sleep and renewed energy

Rekindles interest in life by improving comfort and vitality
Diaphragmatic breathing gently draws your attention inward. It quiets the noise of daily life and roots you in the present moment. In that stillness, you find the doorway to meditation, emotional balance, and connection with your higher self.
Breath becomes a sacred rhythm—harmonizing body, mind, and spirit. Practiced regularly, it complements spiritual traditions such as yoga, energy work, and meditation, while deepening your sense of oneness and inner peace.
Find a calm space. Whether sitting, standing, or lying down, allow your body to lengthen and align.
Place one hand on your chest and the other just above your belly.
Inhale slowly through your nose. Let the lower lungs fill first, feeling your belly gently rise outward.
As the breath deepens, sense expansion not just forward, but also side to side and into your back.
Exhale gently through your mouth or nose, letting the breath fall away.
Continue for several minutes. Try syncing your breathing with your footsteps during a walk, or use it to begin your day in peace.
Even a few conscious breaths each day can shift your energy. Let this be your daily return to center—a simple practice of presence, peace, and purpose.
Holding a steady count while breathing deeply can feel nearly impossible when you’re just beginning. That’s why, more than 40 years ago, I created a set of guided breathing exercises, rooted in ancient operatic techniques from the 1600s, that do the counting for you.
Originally released on cassette and later CD, these beloved exercises are now available as downloadable MP3s. Set to a soothing rhythm of 72 beats per minute, the steady pulse helps you relax, focus, and build breath awareness—without the distraction of keeping track.
Using diaphragmatic breathing, rib cage expansion, gentle breath retention, and mindful release, this practice gradually increases your breath capacity and control.
You begin with a simple 4-4-4 rhythm: inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4.
Over time, with steady practice, the rhythm may expand as far as 20-20-20—inhale, hold, and exhale for 20 counts each.
Many take a year or more to reach this depth, but every step along the way brings greater calm, strength, and clarity.
As the body learns the rhythm, the mind begins to let go. A meditative state arrives almost naturally—sometimes without effort at all.
The response over the years has been heartfelt and encouraging:
Seniors have discovered renewed energy, relaxation, and vitality.
Singers and musicians praise the improvement in breath control and tone sustain.
Healthcare providers report benefits for patients with COPD and other respiratory concerns.
Many find it a reliable anchor during times of stress, anxiety, or depression.
Even nursing homes have used these recordings to gently awaken breath—and spirit—in their residents.
A simple breath in... a patient breath out... and before long, peace arrives.
After much effort, I’m delighted to share that these recordings are now available as MP3 downloads—ready for you to use anytime, anywhere.
Whether you’re just beginning, returning to your breath after a long pause, or seeking to deepen your meditation, these exercises are here to guide you gently forward.
Note: If you have medical conditions, especially respiratory concerns, please consult your healthcare professional before beginning this or any breathwork practice.
